Bringing It All Together

After more than three decades, that same magic still hits me every time an assignment lands successfully — and today, it matters more than ever.

Change starts with people

Hello, I’m Dirk De Boeck, a senior professional with more than 35 years of experience across a wide range of companies. More than a decade ago, I founded Lysandris to put my experience in special projects and business leadership to work for companies who are passionate about changing their future, improving what they do, or breaking new ground. If there’s one thing 35 years in the field has taught me, it’s that leadership and change are, above all, about people — not just technology or business. That holds true on every side of the playing field: not only within the company itself, but also for its customers and, most importantly, its employees. That’s why I do what I do. At Lysandris I want to bring together business, technology, people and vision — and knowing how to balance all four is what separates management from leadership.

The strength of Interim Management

Since I started in Interim Management it has moved well beyond its traditional role in crisis situations. Today, it’s increasingly called upon to drive growth, innovation, development, sales and digitalisation — establishing itself as a genuine strategic management tool.

Belgian organisations frequently appoint interim executives to lead periods of transformation, rapid growth, leadership transition or extended management requirements. Interim leadership offers the flexibility, experience and strategic direction needed to maintain business continuity, reinforce executive teams and deliver immediate impact when it matters most.

The benefits

An interim manager is a seasoned professional who takes on a position for a defined stretch of time. They deliver leadership, guide organisational change, or bring targeted expertise to particular initiatives. Businesses call on them when swift results are needed, without going through the process of recruiting someone permanent.

The point of bringing in an interim professional is to supply leadership or know-how on a temporary basis while things are in flux. These arrangements keep operations running, back up existing teams and sustain progress on important initiatives while more permanent choices are still being worked out.

Longer interim assignments tend to deliver more value than short, quick-fix placements. Real organisational change rarely happens in a few weeks — it takes time to properly understand the business, build trust with teams, and see decisions through to their outcomes rather than just setting them in motion. A longer engagement lets an interim manager move beyond firefighting: they can embed new ways of working, coach the people who will carry the work forward, and adjust course as results start to show. Short-term assignments risk leaving change half-finished, with momentum lost the moment the interim manager walks out the door. A longer runway means continuity, deeper impact, and a handover that actually sticks — rather than a solution that unravels once the outside expertise is gone.

An interim manager comes in without the politics, the career ambitions or the long-term stake in the organisation’s internal hierarchy, which means decisions get made on merit rather than self-interest. They bring outside experience from multiple industries and situations, rather than the singular perspective a permanent hire builds up over years in one company. Recruiting permanently also takes time, carries the risk of a mis-hire, and locks the organisation into a role that may not exist in the same form once the change is complete — many of these needs are transitional by nature, tied to a specific transformation, growth phase or leadership gap, not a fixture of the org chart. An interim manager delivers full-strength expertise exactly when it’s needed, then hands over cleanly once the goal is achieved, leaving the organisation stronger rather than carrying a permanent cost or commitment it may not need indefinitely.

When I take on an assignment, I commit fully for its duration — treating the organisation’s goals as my own and staying until the change is genuinely embedded, not just underway. My engagement doesn’t end with a handover document; I make sure the people and processes I leave behind are equipped to carry the momentum forward on their own.
